Are you prepared for the pending changes in refrigerant regulations?
Tim McRae

This month we have a presentation on an ongoing topic that effects us all professionally and socially. Tim McRae will be updating us on the latest advancements in refrigerants and the regulations that govern them. He will be discussing the current HCFC regulations and the proposed HFC regulations. He will also be discussing the current and future solutions from Dupont.

Presenter:
Tim considers himself a westerner and did grow up in Winnipeg. He graduated from Red River College in 1988 as a Mechanical Engineering Technologist. He started with DuPont in 1990 where he managed a polymer foaming agent lab that commercialized HFC foaming agents that are still used today in insulating foams. In 1992 he transferred to the DuPont refrigerants business and provided technical support to customers as the HVAC&R industry went through its first major change as CFCs were phased out. Over the years Tim spent most of his time in the DuPont refrigerants business but also has experience in other DuPont businesses included high performance polymers and films that offered products like Teflon, Tedlar® and Tefzel®. Tim has participated in many retrofits and conducted the first pre commercial trials of ISCEON® MO99 (R-438A) in North America in both a supermarket and rooftop A/C applications. With the Canadian regulations significantly cutting back HCFCs including R-22 and pending HFC regulations Tim again finds himself full time providing refrigerant technical support to contractors, engineers and system owners in Canada looking for refrigerant solutions.
