ASHRAE Manitoba’s Annual Past-President Night.
The tradition continues with the annual cribbage tournament scheduled for the upcoming dinner meeting on Thursday, December 10th, 2015. The Chapter’s History records revealed the first cribbage tournament was held on March 20, 1979. Members have participated in this event for over 30 years! New This Year, for those of you that do not play cribbage, we will have one table set up for no-limit Texas Hold’em. We will limit this to 8 players, please sign up as you enter the venue, first come first served. Chips and instructions will be provided.
ASHRAE Handbooks, Standards and Guidelines at the Chapter Level

Ever wonder how these references are published, who’s involved or what’s needed to update the standards? A lot of work is done “under the radar”, and you will find that this presentation will enlighten you many things that happen behind the scenes with books that you use on a weekly basis. Dieter will be covering the process of these documents, how people get involved with the committees which write them, and the benefits of getting involved at this level of ASHRAE. He will also cover who’s been involved with guidelines over the years at the Chapter level and add a few notes about ASHRAE members who have been involved in Canadian building codes and standards.
Dieter Bartel works for Manitoba Hydro as a Commercial Energy Specialist, and has been with the utility for 23 years. He joined ASHRAE in 1981 and has been active with the local chapter since 1985, including serving as Chapter President in 1989, and spending a few years as Regional Vice Chair – Membership Promotion. He’s been involved with ASHRAE Guidelines and Standards for around 12 years.
