President's Message
February is typically considered the “cold” month where the temperature dips down to -40C/F for weeks on end. Ironically this would also be the month we typically have our refrigeration night, free cooling for everyone. This year February is turning out to be mild so we have pushed refrigeration night to April where cooling may be needed. This month we are focusing on research promotion (RP).
ASHRAE research is what drives our industry and keeps us relevant, and if we want the benefits, we need to support the effort. Our goal for this year is to reach $13,000 toward research and we are on our way. I would like to thank all those individuals and companies that contributed last year and hope we can count on your support again this year. Individuals and organizations are encouraged to contribute to Research Promotion for ASHRAE Research Canada. Canadian contributions support research in Canada. For information on how ASHRAE Research benefits our industry and find out how you can contribute, contact me.
On February 15th ASHRAE Manitoba will be hosting its first Young Engineers in ASHRAE (YEA) mixer. This will be a great time to get to know some future ASHRAE members and look for that bright individual that would be a perfect addition to your company. The response has been positive and I hope to see everyone there.
