Summary
ASHRAE would like it if you could join us for our year wind up. We conclude the season with a tour of the University of Manitoba’s Power Plant.
The existing Power Plant consists of 10,200 tons of cooling and 13,400 hp boiler output capacity. The project includes a chilled water addition and a boiler upgrade. The chilled water system was increased by adding an additional 1,700 tons of cooling. That included the addition of a chiller, pump, and cooling tower. The boiler plant did not have an expansion but is in the midst of a boiler upgrade. The facility removed 4 existing steam boilers and replaced them with one gas fired steam boiler and 3 new electrode style steam boilers. This upgraded their plant and helped electrify the facility. Additional secondary steam equipment was added to the boiler system as part of the upgrade.
We will get to walk through the facility in the midst of its changeover. We will also get a closer look at the existing and new equipment that has been installed in the project with more to come. This facility one of the biggest central plants within the province. We hope you can join us for the tour. After the tour we will head off site for the social hour which will include food.
