Service water heating systems form a fundamental component of our society’s hygiene practices, and can be found in nearly all occupied buildings. They allow us to clean ourselves, our dishes and clothes, and the spaces where we live, work and play. These systems are especially critical for hospitals, restaurants, schools and a wide variety of other businesses and industries. These systems are so universal, using best practices in their design and operation can lead to a significant reduction in energy consumption, which in turn reduces the owner’s operating costs.

This day-long seminar will examine best practices and more efficient methods and equipment so that the facility can reach its full capability in reducing operating cost and meeting the facility managers goals.

In this seminar we will cover:
• Practical Design Methods to Lead to a High Efficient System
• Equipment Considerations for a High Efficient System
• Power Smart Commercial Custom Incentive Program
• New Energy Code Implications to the DHW System
• Case Studies of an Energy Efficient DHW System
• New Emerging Technologies and Applications

The full line-up of speakers for the seminar are local experts and industry specialists. An expert from A.O. Smith will start us off with design fundamentals and equipment considerations. We
will also have various manufacturer representatives available to discuss the latest technologies which can be considered by design engineers, contractors and owners.
• Eric Souque, Marketing Specialist – Commercial HVAC, from Manitoba Hydro to discuss the rebate programs available to facilities.
• Denton Vandersteen, Senior Commercial Systems Engineer, also from Manitoba Hydro will be discussing case studies where the systems we have discussed have been implemented.
• Dieter Bartel, Grassroots Government Activities Chair, ASHRAE and also from Manitoba Hydro will explain key points from the National Energy Code for Buildings, NECB, that pertain to domestic hot water systems. Dieter was involved in the committee to construct the NECB.
